Inspiration

The inspiration for this build needs no introduction;  classic, timeless, simple but versatile.

I wanted to build something that offered a few comfort features, while sacrificing none of the key components that make this design so great.

A slanted 3-way switch, electrically shielded cavaties and electronics, and a slight change to the heel shape are all designed to make the guitar easier to play and feel a touch more modern.  D'darrio elliptical strap buttons are an upgrade to the buttons of yore, as are the Fender Locking Tuners.  The neck profile is still a chunky "U" shape, but a bit slimmer than the classic instument to make it a little more approachable.

The neck pickup is body mounted.  There is no arm or belly carve that would change how the instrument is played.  There are no carbon fiber stiffening rods.  There is no vinyl, epoxy, urethane, shellac, or any other kind of finish other than the ultra thin nitrocellulose.  Just enough to seal and protect the wood, no more.  Classic bone nut, Fender bridge with brass saddles, and nickel-silver frets insure that whatever is in contact with the guitar strings behaves as it should.

The guitar comes with a set of Fender NoCaster '51 pickups that are absolutely gorgeous and defy the notion that old Tele pickups are thin or weak.  They have spank, fullness, articulation, and punch.  Just beautiful and inspiring.
