This guitar is the marriage of quite a few concepts: all-american, sweets, versatility, and balanced asymmetry. It was created for the Great American Guitar Building Contest 2022.
The guitar is all american because all the woods are grown and sourced from North America. The hardware is American made. The pickups are American made.
Sweets because all the woods are associated with dessert and treats. The body is made of sassafras, the root beer tree. The top is curly cherry. The neck is rock maple. The fretboard is beautiful walnut. The finish is Root Beer sparkle on back and sides, with partial cream binding to accent the natural wood top and fretboard.
Versatility because of the many pickup options. The humbuckers in this guitar (middle and neck) are both asymmetrical. That means the neck contains a P90 and a Hot Rail, which put together makes a P-Rails humbucker. Likewise the middle contains a Custom single-coil and a '59 single-coil, which put together makes a Custom 59' humbucker. The switches on the control plate allow you to freely and independently select which coils you want active for that position. Combined with the QuarterPounder in the bridge and a standard 5-way switch, the tone options are endless.
The asymmetry is represented not only by the pickup options above, but also by the shape and the partial binding. Both the body and neck are partially bound in a way that makes sense and follows lines, but is not symmetrical.
